Helma Lodders is stepping down after 3.5 years as chairwoman of VNLOK, the Dutch association of licensed online gambling providers. The VNLOK leadership change comes as Lodders’ term ends, and she has chosen not to extend her mandate. Starting May 1, board member Björn Fuchs will take over while continuing his role as Chief Digital Officer at Fair Play Casino.

  • Helma Lodders chaired VNLOK during its critical formation phase before the opening of the regulated Dutch online gambling market. Under her leadership, the association became a recognized voice in politics, government, and the media. She also worked to spotlight the issue of illegal gambling markets.

  • Lodders stated she enjoyed her time at VNLOK and always focused on creating a safe and controlled gambling market. She acknowledged the trust of her fellow board members and expressed full confidence in her successor, Björn Fuchs. “It was a period of political and social turbulence,” she said.

  • The board unanimously recommended Fuchs to succeed Lodders after her decision not to renew her term. Fuchs has been a board member of VNLOK and works in a senior role at Fair Play Casino. His appointment continues the trend of linking VNLOK leadership with industry operators.

  • As the new chair, Fuchs will lead VNLOK in its ongoing role as a stakeholder in gambling regulation discussions. He emphasized his enthusiasm for working with members on a well-regulated online gambling environment. The VNLOK leadership change marks a new chapter with continuity in mission.
