• A US District Court in Arizona denied Kalshi’s request for a preliminary injunction against state enforcement. The company had sought to stop a criminal prosecution tied to its event contracts. The ruling allows Arizona to continue its case.
• Kalshi operates a federally regulated prediction market platform under the CFTC framework. It argues this status gives it protection from state gambling laws. This claim remains central to the Kalshi Arizona ruling dispute.
• Arizona authorities consider the contracts to fall under illegal gambling rules. The state issued a cease-and-desist order and later filed criminal charges. Investigators also placed bets on the platform during the probe.
• The court did not rule on whether federal law overrides state regulation. Instead, it focused on procedural limits under the Anti-Injunction Act. It found that federal courts cannot block ongoing state proceedings in this case.

• Total turnover came in at GBP 206.3m (ca. EUR 237m), with B2C gambling revenue making up GBP 185.1m (ca. EUR 213m) of that. That’s up from GBP 156.5m (ca. EUR 180m) a year earlier, pointing to steady growth in betting activity. It confirms that the core sportsbook and gaming offer remains central to the business.
• Other parts of the business play a smaller role in comparison. B2B advertising revenue reached GBP 19.1m (ca. EUR 22m), while software development contributed GBP 2.1m (ca. EUR 2.4m). Together, they add some diversification, but betting clearly dominates the mix.
• The UK and Ireland continue to account for most of the group’s revenue. The region generated GBP 175.6m (ca. EUR 202m) in 2025, well ahead of any other market. This shows just how dependent the business still is on its home territory.
• Revenue from the rest of Europe stood at GBP 16.3m (ca. EUR 18.7m). Meanwhile, markets outside Europe brought in GBP 14.4m (ca. EUR 16.5m). These numbers suggest international expansion is happening, but at a more gradual pace.

The share increase of Kambi

Kambi’s shares moved higher during that week after the company announced a new sportsbook partnership in the U.S., expanding its footprint in a key growth market. • A YouGov poll commissioned by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) found 65% of betting customers would be unwilling to provide documents such as bank statements or payslips. The BGC said this points to strong resistance to proposed affordability-style measures. It also argued the figure could prove higher once checks are applied in real customer journeys.
• The findings build on earlier Gambling Commission research released after a Freedom of Information request. That survey of more than 12,000 respondents showed 77% opposed financial risk checks, while only 14% of frequent bettors said they would share financial data. This group is considered among the most likely to be affected by the checks.
• The BGC said early trials have highlighted issues including inconsistent data, unclear outcomes and added friction for customers. Grainne Hurst, chief executive of the BGC, said: “Forcing punters to hand over bank statements isn’t ‘frictionless’, it’s intrusive and will drive customers to the illegal market.” She added that the results underline concerns around how financial risk checks may operate in practice.
• The trade body warned that stricter requirements could push customers towards unregulated operators. It said the regulated sector currently supports 109,000 jobs, contributes GBP 6.8bn (ca. EUR 7.1bn)  to the economy and generates GBP 4bn (ca. EUR 4.6bn) in tax. The BGC is calling for financial risk checks to remain targeted and proportionate to avoid wider market disruption.

• The US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit upheld a lower court decision granting Kalshi a preliminary injunction against New Jersey regulators. The court found Kalshi showed a reasonable chance of success in arguing federal law applies. It also agreed the company could face harm without protection from state enforcement.
• At the core of the case is whether event contracts linked to sports outcomes qualify as “swaps” under the Commodity Exchange Act. The court said these contracts fit the definition because they depend on events with potential economic consequences. This places them under the jurisdiction of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
• New Jersey had issued a cease-and-desist order, arguing the contracts breached state gambling laws, including restrictions on college sports betting. The state warned of fines and possible criminal penalties if Kalshi continued offering the products. Kalshi responded by seeking federal court protection.
• Judges concluded that federal law likely preempts state regulation in this case. They pointed to the CFTC’s exclusive authority over derivatives traded on designated contract markets. This means Kalshi event contracts may not be subject to state-level gambling rules when offered through regulated exchanges.
• A dissenting opinion argued the products resemble traditional sports betting and should fall under state control. It pointed to long-standing state authority over gambling regulation. The dissent also questioned whether federal law was intended to cover this type of activity.
