Danske Spil had a financially strong 2024. The company’s revenue saw significant growth, supported by high lottery jackpots and solid performance across business areas. The Danske Spil revenue figures also highlight the company’s commitment to responsible gaming.
Revenue (gross gaming revenue) for 2024 reached DKK 5.256 billion (€705 million), up from DKK 5.040 billion (€676 million) in 2023. The increase was driven by an unusually high number of large jackpots in Eurojackpot and strong performance in subsidiaries. The net profit after tax also increased to DKK 1.948 billion (€261 million).
The company’s contribution to society hit a record DKK 3.282 billion (€440 million), including DKK 1.82 billion (€244 million) for distribution funds. This represents an increase of DKK 137 million (€18 million) compared to the previous year. The strong financial performance enabled Danske Spil to return even more value to the Danish community.
Eurojackpot had 13 maximum jackpots in 2024, compared to just two the year before, driving customer interest. Increased subscription sales and special seasonal games like Det Store Jule Lotto also contributed to revenue growth. The company was well-prepared to capitalize on these jackpot peaks.
Responsible gaming remains a key focus, with initiatives leading to a 59% reduction in high-risk gamblers since 2021. Over 4,000 welfare calls were made to customers with risky gaming habits, doubling since 2022. Young adults under 25 now spend an average of DKK 133 (€18) per month on gaming.
CEO Nikolas Lyhne-Knudsen emphasized the balance between financial success and responsible gaming: “We have managed to maximize the attention generated by the large lottery jackpots while maintaining our strong focus on player protection.”
Danske Spil played a major role in sports betting during UEFA Euro 2024, with 11% more Danes betting on Denmark’s matches than in the previous tournament. However, the average bet size was lower, reflecting the company’s responsible gaming policies. Oddset continues to focus on Danish events like Melodi Grand Prix and the King’s New Year’s speech.
The casino segment saw further innovation, including the launch of a new app with a strong Danish identity. The app integrates responsible gaming features and offers a selection of Danish-themed games. The response from players has been positive, contributing to overall revenue growth.
Looking ahead to 2025, revenue is expected to be between DKK 5.1-5.3 billion (€685-712 million), with a net profit forecast of DKK 1.9-2.0 billion (€255-268 million). The company anticipates a more normalized level of lottery jackpots compared to 2024.
