The Dutch Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, Ksa) has fined Alimaniere Sociedad De Responsabilidad Limitada €1,050,000 for offering online games of chance without a license. This action is part of the Ksa’s ongoing efforts to regulate the online gambling market and protect Dutch players.
- Alimaniere operated the website time2spin.com, allowing Dutch players to gamble without proper licensing. After initial enforcement, the site became inaccessible due to an IP block. However, the operator created a new site, timetospin1.com, enabling players to continue gambling with existing accounts.
- The Ksa had previously issued a cease-and-desist order against Alimaniere for its unlicensed activities. Despite this, the operator continued its illegal offerings through the new website. Both sites are now offline following the Ksa’s intervention.
- The base fine for such violations is €600,000, but several aggravating factors led to the higher penalty. These included lack of age verification, allowing minors to gamble, and charging inactivity fees to dormant accounts. Such practices disregard player safety and responsible gambling measures.
- Michel Groothuizen, chairman of the Ksa, emphasized the importance of a legal market for safe gambling. He noted that illegal providers often neglect measures to prevent risky behavior. The Ksa is committed to taking strong action against such parties to protect consumers
