Aldi is teaming up with National Lottery operator Allwyn to bring National Lottery at Aldi self-checkouts across all its UK stores. This means shoppers can now easily purchase their lottery tickets while paying for their groceries. The rollout has already started and will be completed by spring this year.

  • Aldi has been selling National Lottery tickets through store colleagues since 2021. Now, self-checkout users can also buy their tickets directly.

  • More than 1,050 Aldi stores in the UK are already offering the service. The full implementation is expected by spring 2024.

  • Shoppers can buy Lucky Dip tickets for Lotto, EuroMillions, Thunderball, and Set For Life games. National Lottery Fast Pay card users can scan to generate their tickets.

  • Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi, said: “We’re always looking for ways to improve the shopping experience for our customers which is why we’ve made it even easier to enter the National Lottery while picking up essentials at our self-checkouts.”

  • Jenny Blogg, Operations Director at Allwyn, highlighted that this expansion helps make the lottery available at every stage of Aldi’s customer journey, reaching more players.

  • Age verification checks will be conducted by Aldi colleagues for any lottery purchases, ensuring compliance with Allwyn’s player protection policies.

  • The National Lottery contributes over £30 million per week to Good Causes across the UK, supporting various community projects.
