Reports about an alleged “secret agreement” between betting providers and German federal states have caused controversy. Tipico denies these claims, stating that the agreement was a public judicial settlement.
The so-called secret agreement is a court settlement made at the Darmstadt Administrative Court. Its contents were publicly disclosed in June 2024 in the evaluation report on the State Treaty on Gambling.
A TV report claims that a student increased their deposit limit to €10,000 within seconds. Tipico denies this, asserting that all requests undergo standard review.
ARD Monitor reportedly submitted an inquiry about this case but did not provide further details after Tipico’s initial response. Tipico requested additional information for investigation but received no reply.
The deposit limit increase follows regulatory requirements, including multiple verification methods. The Schufa-G inquiry is one of the processes used for financial assessment. The Joint Gambling Authority of the Federal States (GGL) has published detailed information about the Schufa-G inquiry.
