Denmark has blocked 98 gambling websites operating without a local licence including Polymarket. The Frederiksberg District Court approved the blocks requested by the Danish Gambling Authority.

  • All 98 websites targeted Danish players without the required Danish licence. Operators serving the market must hold a licence and follow local gambling rules. The court backed the regulator’s request to block access.
  • Polymarket is among the sites covered by the Denmark illegal gambling sites action. Users can trade on outcomes including wars and other serious events. Danish authorities specifically raised concerns about markets involving deaths and conflicts.
  • Minister for Taxation and Growth Jakob Engel-Schmidt criticised markets based on human tragedies. “A human life is not a betting slip,” he said. He welcomed the blocking of Polymarket and the other unlicensed sites.
  • The Denmark illegal gambling sites are blocked through the Domain Name System (DNS). Danish internet users trying to visit them are redirected to a page explaining that the site is illegal.
