Hong Kong has appointed Leung Ping-kin to the Betting and Lotteries Commission. His term starts September 1, 2026, and runs until July 31, 2027. He replaces Anthea Lee Shuk-wai, who resigned.

• Leung joins the Betting and Lotteries Commission with a background in social work and community service. Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak welcomed the appointment. She said: “I look forward to his valuable advice on matters relating to betting and lotteries.”
• The Betting and Lotteries Commission advises the Hong Kong Government on gambling regulation. Its remit covers horse race betting, football betting and lotteries. It is a statutory body established under the Betting Duty Ordinance.
• The Commission advises the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs and does not operate gambling products itself. Leung’s appointment does not change its existing regulatory advisory role.
