New Zealand has completed its online casino licensing auction, with 11 companies securing the right to apply for 15 licences. The New Zealand casino licences will now move to the detailed application and assessment stage. The Department of Internal Affairs published the results on 13 October 2026.
- Auction results: The tenth and final auction round closed on 12 October 2026. The government confirmed 11 successful companies with a total of 15 application rights. The auction determined which companies could proceed and the price for a licence.
- Multiple application rights: Baytree Interactive Limited secured three rights to apply. Playvia Gaming (NZ) Limited and Rock Swift Group Limited each secured two. The remaining eight companies received one application right each.
- Other successful applicants: Christchurch Online NZ Limited, One Casino Limited, Rush Entertainment Limited and Skill On Net Limited secured application rights. SkyCity NZ Online NO1 Limited and SkyCity NZ Online NO2 Limited were also selected. Stake New Zealand Limited and TAB New Zealand complete the list.
- Next steps: The auction results do not mean that licences have already been granted. Successful companies must still complete the detailed application and assessment process. The New Zealand casino licences will only be issued to applicants that meet the regulatory requirements.
- Licensing framework: New Zealand’s licensing process consists of three stages, starting with expressions of interest. The auction forms the second stage, followed by the final application and assessment process. Applicants were required to demonstrate access to at least NZD 7.5 million (ca. EUR 3.8 million) in capital during the initial stage.
