DoubleDown Interactive is going all-in on Europe. The company has signed a €55 million deal to buy WHOW Games, a move aimed at deepening its reach in the German social casino market. With this purchase, DoubleDown is looking to tap into one of Europe’s most promising gaming segments.
DoubleDown will take full control of WHOW Games, a Hamburg-based social casino developer, for €55 million upfront. There’s also an option for an extra €10 million if WHOW hits certain targets over the next two years. The deal will be funded using DoubleDown’s own cash and is expected to close later this year, in the third quarter of 2025.
WHOW Games made €41.8 million in revenue last year, showing its strong position among German players. The company is known for its hit titles like MyJackpot and Lounge777, along with licensed games such as Merkur24. This lineup gives DoubleDown more variety and helps it appeal to more players across Europe.
By adding WHOW Games, DoubleDown wants to mix its marketing strength and operational experience with WHOW’s local know-how. The goal is to grab a bigger share of the German social casino market and keep growing across Europe. While other markets have started to slow down, Germany’s social casino sector is still seeing steady growth.
DoubleDown CEO In Keuk Kim said the deal is a big step forward for the company’s plans in Germany. “We are delighted to welcome the WHOW Games team to DoubleDown and look forward to working collaboratively on initiatives to drive growth across the business,” he said.
WHOW Games CEO Giovanni Valerio Valeriota described the deal as an exciting new chapter. He believes joining DoubleDown will help them move faster and bring new ideas to life. He also thanked Azerion for their support and guidance over the years, helping WHOW become what it is today.
This acquisition fits with DoubleDown’s bigger plan to grow beyond its North American roots. WHOW’s strong base in the German social casino market makes it a perfect fit. Together, they plan to launch new games and connect with more players across Europe.
