Light & Wonder just made a big move in the Middle East. The company has secured a UAE gaming license, opening the door to a fresh audience. It’s one of the first global suppliers cleared by the new national gaming authority.

  • The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) approved Light & Wonder to operate as a gaming-related vendor in the UAE. The license lets the company offer land-based electronic slots and table game utilities, plus online iGaming content. The UAE gaming license marks a major step into a market that only recently began regulating commercial gaming.

  • Matt Wilson, president and CEO of Light & Wonder, said the license is “an important milestone” for the company’s international growth. He emphasized L&W’s “trusted, responsible, and player-first approach” to gaming operations in the region. The company joins a shortlist of early vendors cleared to enter the newly established UAE framework.

  • The GCGRA is responsible for all commercial gaming activity across the UAE’s seven emirates. It’s a federal body that aims to regulate the space for safety and compliance. Approvals like Light & Wonder’s show that vendor licensing is officially underway.

  • With this move, Light & Wonder reinforces its strategy to expand cross-platform content globally. The license covers both land-based and digital operations, aligning with the company’s wider business model. The UAE gaming license boosts L&W’s reach across the MENA region.

  • Light & Wonder’s existing presence in global regulated markets likely helped fast-track the application. The company has licenses in North America, Europe, and Asia. GCGRA’s decision reflects L&W’s history of regulatory compliance and cooperation.
