Sweden’s gambling market saw mixed results in Q2 2025, with overall Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) rising year-on-year. See more details according to figures published by the Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen):
- Total stakes minus winnings (or GGR) reached SEK 7.02bn (EUR 0.6bn), up from SEK 6.89bn in Q2 2024. Swedish gambling GGR was largely driven by online casino and betting activity.
Commercial online gaming and betting generated SEK 4.63bn in Q2 2025 in terms of GGR. This is a slight increase compared to SEK 4.57bn in the same period last year. Online play continues to account for the majority of Swedish gambling turnover.
State lotteries and slot machine games recorded a GGR of SEK 1.42bn in Q2 2025. This marks growth from SEK 1.29bn in Q2 2024, though slightly down compared to the strong Q4 2024 period. Lottery remains the second largest channel after online.
Casino Cosmopol’s land-based casino games fell sharply to SEK 8m in Q2 2025 in terms of GGR. A year earlier, the same period generated SEK 33m. The decline reflects the operator’s ongoing closure plans.
Lotteries for public benefit posted SEK 846m in GGR during Q2 2025. This was a slight decrease from SEK 893m in Q2 2024. The sector remains stable but faces slow growth.
Hall bingo for public benefit brought in SEK 49m in Q2 2025 in GGR. That figure was almost unchanged from SEK 49m in Q2 2024. Bingo continues to represent a minor share of the market.
Land-based commercial gaming, such as restaurant casinos, achieved SEK 63m in Q2 2025. This is higher than SEK 57m reported in Q2 2024. The vertical shows steady resilience compared to other land-based segments.
