Tipico has completed the takeover of ADMIRAL Austria from Novomatic, a deal that reshapes the betting and gaming landscape in Austria. With the Tipico ADMIRAL acquisition, the group strengthens its footprint in the German-speaking markets, while Novomatic puts its focus on building international growth. The agreement also came with conditions set by Austria’s competition authority, affecting how the retail shop network will operate.
Tipico has acquired 100% of ATLAS Group GmbH, the parent company of ADMIRAL in Austria. This move secures Tipico’s position in the market and adds further depth to its product portfolio.
Novomatic explained that the sale supports its plan to concentrate on international markets. The company underlined its ambition to expand globally and continue developing gaming technology.
Both Tipico and ADMIRAL will stay active as brands in Austria. Their online platforms will remain available to players, keeping both names visible in the market.
To meet competition authority requirements, Tipico will hand over a major part of its Austrian retail network. The shops that remain will operate under the ADMIRAL brand within its existing shop system.
Tipico CEO Axel Hefer praised ADMIRAL’s standing in Austria, saying the company has strong growth potential. He noted: “This investment marks an important step in Tipico’s growth strategy and underscores our leading role in the German-speaking markets.”
Novomatic board member Stefan Krenn described the deal as part of the group’s global expansion path. He thanked ADMIRAL’s employees for their work and expressed confidence that Tipico will carry the brand forward in Austria.
