Raymond Knops will become chair of the supervisory board at Nederlandse Loterij from 1 January 2026. Shareholders approved his appointment in Rijswijk. He replaces Alexander Pechtold, who stepped down after becoming mayor of Delft.

  • Knops  (see picture below) was appointed by the shareholders to lead the Nederlandse Loterij RvC and will start in the role at the beginning of next year. He takes over from Pechtold, who chaired the board until his move into local government. Knops is 54 years old.

  • He brings extensive public sector experience, having served as an MP and later as minister and state secretary between 2005 and 2023. Since leaving politics, Knops has joined consultancy firm Valcon as a partner. He also chairs the Dutch Industry for Defence and Security foundation.

  • Commenting on the appointment, Knops said: “I look forward to getting to know this socially engaged company and the people working every day on safe and responsible games of chance.”
