ATG is entering a new phase after a long period under the same leadership with CEO Hasse Lord Skarplöth (see picture below):
ATG said Skarplöth and the board had different opinions on the company’s future direction, leading both parties to agree that new leadership was needed. The ATG CEO resignation takes effect immediately and the recruitment of a permanent successor has started. During the transition, chairman Peter Norman will act as CEO.
Skarplöth has led ATG for more than 13 years, guiding its development from a horse betting operator into a broader gaming business spanning horse betting, sports betting and casino. Under his leadership, ATG also expanded outside Sweden. The company said it now stands on a stable financial footing.
Norman said ATG’s role in supporting the Swedish horse industry remains central, with all surplus distributed to Svensk Travsport and Svensk Galopp. In the press release, Skarplöth said: “I have had the privilege of being CEO of ATG for a long period,” adding that he was proud of the company’s growth. The ATG CEO resignation marks the end of one of the longer tenures in the Nordic betting market.
