The Dutch Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit) has stepped up action against Polymarket. The regulator says the platform is offering bets without a local licence. The move centres on the Polymarket illegal gambling Netherlands case linked to prediction markets.

  • The Dutch regulator has imposed an order subject to a penalty on Adventure One QSS Inc., which operates Polymarket. According to the regulator, the company is offering games of chance to Dutch players without authorisation. Polymarket has been told to cease its Dutch-facing activities immediately.

  • If the offer remains accessible, the Polymarket faces a penalty of EUR 420,000 per week, capped at EUR 840,000. The regulator also stated that a separate turnover-based fine could follow. The enforcement action marks a formal escalation in the Polymarket illegal gambling Netherlands case.

  • Polymarket has argued that prediction markets do not fall under gambling laws. The Dutch regulator disagrees and said no visible changes were made after earlier contact with the operator. “Those who do not have a permit from the Kansspeleautoriteit have no business in our market,” said Ella Seijsener, director of licensing and supervision.
