Sportsbet has announced a leadership change that will take effect from 1 June 2026. The Sportsbet CEO transition will see Douglas Brown become CEO, while Barni Evans moves into a broader role at Flutter Entertainment. The company said the move is part of its ongoing leadership planning.

  • Douglas Brown will become Sportsbet CEO from 1 June 2026 after holding several senior roles within the business since joining in 2015. His previous positions include Chief Operating Officer, Chief Product Officer and Chief Growth Officer. Sportsbet said Brown has been closely involved in the company’s growth over recent years.
  • Barni Evans will take on the role of CEO for Flutter Entertainment APAC & Emerging Markets after leading Sportsbet. The company said Sportsbet continued to strengthen its position in the Australian wagering market during his time as CEO. Evans will now oversee a wider regional business within Flutter.
  • Sportsbet described the Sportsbet CEO transition as a natural progression designed to maintain continuity in local leadership. The operator also pointed to continued investment in product development and customer growth.
  • Sportsbet was founded in 1993 and became part of Paddy Power in 2009 before later joining Flutter Entertainment through industry mergers. The operator has built a large customer base in Australia across sports betting and horse racing. Today, it competes with brands including TAB, bet365 and PointsBet in the local market.
