Emma Floyd has joined the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) as Director of Sport and Gambling. She moves into the role after more than a decade at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. The position places her at the centre of UK gambling policy and regulation.

  • Floyd said she is looking forward to working across the sport and gambling sectors. She described the area as a balance between growth, regulation and public trust. She also plans to engage closely with industry stakeholders and government colleagues.
  • She joins DCMS after spending more than 10 years at DESNZ. Floyd thanked her former colleagues and said she had learned a great deal during that time. She now begins her first role focused on sport and gambling policy.
  • The Director of Sport and Gambling role helps shape gambling policy in the UK. It includes working with regulators, operators and other industry bodies. Floyd’s appointment comes as the sector continues to navigate regulatory change.
