Soccer is expected to attract record attention in the US ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and FanDuel is updating its sportsbook by launching two new features, SuperSub and 120-minute markets, aimed at making FanDuel soccer betting easier to understand for casual and regular bettors alike. Both products are designed around how matches actually play out on the pitch.
- SuperSub keeps a wager alive when a selected player is taken off during a match. Instead of the bet ending with that player, it automatically switches to the substitute who replaces them. The feature applies during normal time and extra time in knockout matches.
- FanDuel believes the feature is particularly relevant in tournament football, where strong squads often rely on their bench. Former US international Landon Donovan pointed to teams such as France, which can bring elite players into matches during the second half. He said fresh substitutes can often be in a strong position to score when defenders begin to tire.
- FanDuel has also introduced 120-minute markets for knockout games. Unlike traditional soccer bets that settle after 90 minutes, these markets remain active through extra time. FanDuel said the change addresses a common complaint from customers whose selections succeed after regulation time has ended.
- Standard 90-minute markets will still be available, giving bettors a choice between both formats. Joe Cundall, Senior Director of Sportsbook Commercial at FanDuel, said: “We see this as an opportunity to reimagine how our U.S. players wager on FanDuel’s soccer product.” The launch forms part of FanDuel’s wider FanDuel soccer betting strategy ahead of next year’s World Cup.
