Allwyn is putting more weight behind its digital strategy. The group has created Allwyn Digital, a new business unit. To lead it, the company has named Kresimir Spajic, a gaming executive with two decades of experience in online operations. The appointment underlines the importance of Allwyn digital expansion in its global growth plan.
Spajic will take over as CEO of Allwyn Digital on 1 September. He will be based in Lucerne and report directly to group CEO Robert Chvatal. His role covers iGaming, sportsbook, and new digital product development.
Before joining Allwyn, Spajic was CEO of Betfred USA. In that role he oversaw company strategy, operational delivery and international development. His experience in the U.S. market is expected to add weight to Allwyn’s international digital ambitions.
Across his career, Spajic has held senior leadership posts at Hard Rock International and Great Canadian Entertainment. He has also served as an advisor at Apollo Global Management. This background gives him a wide view of both operational and investment aspects of online gaming.
Allwyn says the new appointment is part of a wider effort to strengthen its digital capabilities. The company has been building out its technology stack to better connect its lottery-led entertainment with broader iGaming and casual play. Creating Allwyn Digital marks a step in centralising these efforts.
CEO Robert Chvatal commented: “Kresimir’s appointment is a transformative step for our business. His expertise perfectly aligns with our commitment to continuously enhancing the player experience across our digital portfolio of products and games.”
Spajic noted that Allwyn Digital will focus on making the player journey more connected and digitally integrated. He added: “Allwyn has a bold ambition of transforming the way players engage with lotteries, gaming and casual entertainment.” His comments highlight how the Allwyn digital expansion aims to tie together different parts of the company’s portfolio.
