Argentina has moved to block access to Polymarket across the country. The Polymarket Argentina block follows a court-backed investigation into the platform’s unlicensed activity. The case also extends to the removal of its apps from Android and iOS stores in Argentina.

  • A Buenos Aires court ordered internet providers to block access to Polymarket across Argentina. The action was led by the City’s Specialised Prosecutor’s Office for Gambling, FEJA. Authorities described it as the first such enforcement step against the platform in Latin America.

  • The case began after LOTBA filed a complaint over Polymarket operating without authorisation. Prosecutor Juan Rozas opened the investigation, which was later reviewed by Court No. 31 under Judge Susana Parada. The probe concluded that the platform was offering betting-style activity under a prediction market format.

  • Investigators highlighted risks linked to user access and controls. The platform allowed payments via cryptocurrencies and credit cards and did not require full identity or age verification. Officials said this setup meant users, including minors, could register and participate without checks.

  • The ruling also required Google and Apple to remove Polymarket apps from Android and iOS in Argentina. ALEA confirmed the platform lacked licences in all jurisdictions, while CASCBA submitted additional evidence on operational gaps. These inputs supported the broader Polymarket Argentina block decision at national level.
