Kane Purdy has been appointed as the new non-executive Chair of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) with immediate effect. The new BGC Chair is Managing Director at Gamesys Operations Limited, part of Bally’s Intralot. He replaces Michael Dugher, who stepped down earlier this year after six years with the BGC.
- Purdy has spent 20 years in the betting and gaming industry, mainly in operational roles. He also chaired GamProtect, a project focused on single customer view and player protection. The BGC Chair position will now rotate between members on a 12-month basis.
- BGC CEO Grainne Hurst said Purdy brings “a huge amount of experience, expertise and talent” to the role. She highlighted his work on collaboration and raising standards across the sector. Hurst added she is looking forward to working with the new BGC Chair.
- Purdy said he was “honoured and delighted” to take on the role. He noted the importance of collective action to address industry challenges and maintain standards. The BGC represents over 90% of the regulated betting and gaming sector, including online and land-based operators.
