ZEAL Network is bringing in new leadership this autumn. Dr Stefan Tweraser will step in as CEO on 15 September, marking the start of a new chapter for Germany’s biggest online lottery operator. Before officially taking the top job, he’ll join the board on 25 August to ensure a smooth transition. ZEAL new CEO Tweraser follows Dr Helmut Becker, who led the business for nearly a decade.

  • Becker announced earlier this year that he would not extend his contract. He’ll step down on 14 September but continue supporting the company as an advisor until the end of January. Under his leadership, ZEAL expanded its position in Germany and introduced new products like the dream house raffle.
  • Tweraser arrives with a strong background in tech and digital business. He most recently served as CEO of Rocket Factory Augsburg and previously held senior roles at Google, Telekom Austria, and McKinsey. He also holds a doctorate in economics and, interestingly, is a qualified psychotherapist.
  • ZEAL’s Supervisory Board chose Tweraser after a detailed search process. Chairwoman Carola von Schmettow highlighted his mix of strategic thinking and hands-on digital expertise. She believes he’s the right person to drive the company’s next phase of growth.
  • ZEAL, based in Hamburg, has over a million active customers and operates brands like LOTTO24 and Tipp24. The company celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, marking its journey from an early online lottery pioneer to market leader.
  • Looking ahead, Tweraser is expected to focus on expanding digital offerings and strengthening ZEAL’s market position. He described ZEAL as “the number one in German online lotteries” and said he was honoured by the trust the board has placed in him.
  • ZEAL new CEO Tweraser is 55 and originally from Austria. He’s married and has four children. With his mix of international experience and tech focus, he’ll play a key role in shaping ZEAL’s future strategy.
