France has ordered internet service providers to block access to Polymarket as part of its crackdown on unlicensed gambling. The National Gaming Authority (ANJ) says the prediction market platform is offering gambling services without authorisation in France. The Polymarket France block follows months of regulatory action against the company.

• ANJ has been investigating Polymarket since November 2024 after concluding that its services fall under France’s gambling laws. The operator, Adventure One QSS Inc., introduced geoblocking, but the regulator said users were still able to bypass the restrictions. As a result, ANJ moved ahead with an administrative blocking order.
• The regulator maintains that prediction markets are not authorised in France. It also raised concerns about consumer protection after allegations that weather-related markets had been manipulated, leading to a cybercrime investigation. ANJ further criticised the platform for lacking effective Know Your Customer (KYC) checks.
• Polymarket continued to attract French users despite the regulatory scrutiny. According to ANJ, the Polymarket recorded 578,751 visits and 205,057 unique visitors in June 2026. The authority said the site’s live odds promote an illegal gambling offer, while advertising such services can carry fines of up to EUR 100,000.
• The Polymarket France block is part of ANJ’s wider enforcement campaign against illegal gambling websites. The French regulator blocked 1,290 illegal gambling URLs during 2025 and noted that several European countries, including Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, have also taken action against prediction market platforms.
