Big changes are on the way for the Maryland Lottery. INTRALOT just landed a major deal to run its core gaming systems. The new Maryland Lottery contract will reshape how tickets are sold and tracked statewide.
INTRALOT Inc., the U.S. arm of Greece-based INTRALOT S.A., was chosen after a competitive bidding process. The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission approved the selection on July 15, 2025. The contract covers all central systems used to run the Maryland Lottery.
The Maryland Lottery contract includes manufacturing terminals and vending machines for over 4,300 retailers. INTRALOT will also deliver the software used for ticket sales and accounting. Additional services supporting day-to-day operations are also part of the deal.
The base term of the agreement is 10 years. There is an option to extend it for another 5 years, plus an additional single year. The full contract period could run through 2041.
INTRALOT’s bid values the total contract at $260,393,946. This figure includes all services over the maximum potential 16-year term. The final contract still needs further approval steps.
A key part of INTRALOT’s pitch was its plan to include nine local minority business enterprises (MBEs). Previous vendors have used fewer local partners. INTRALOT says this approach will boost community participation and support.
“We’re proud to include Maryland businesses in this long-term partnership,” an INTRALOT spokesperson said. The company sees this as a way to expand local economic opportunities.
