The Dutch gambling regulator is putting more money into prevention work. The regulator said the aim is to reduce harm and improve access to help across different areas. The new Ksa prevention projects – which involve the organisations AGOG, Trimbos, the Dutch Association for Psychiatry and Stichting Naast – focus on early warning, treatment, support for relatives and better access to help.
- The Ksa is funding five new initiatives through its prevention fund – financed by operator levies – to tackle gambling harm earlier.
- AGOG (or Anonieme Gokkers en Omgeving Gokkers) – representing among others anonymous gamblers – will train new facilitators and explore online peer-support groups to reach more people.
- Trimbos is testing how prevention programmes and workplaces can help spot and reduce risky behaviour sooner.
- Stichting Naast will expand support for relatives with webinars and guidance, while improving links with existing help platforms.
