Lotterywest has confirmed Brightstar as its new lottery technology supplier following a formal tender process. The appointment covers a full replacement of the operator’s core systems. The Lotterywest Brightstar contract also sets out a timeline for digital and online delivery.
The contract has been awarded for an initial nine-year term, with options to extend up to 19 years. It follows a rigorous procurement process run by Lotterywest. The scope includes replacing Lotterywest’s existing Gaming and Support System. This covers point-of-sale retailer terminals, peripheral devices and supporting infrastructure. Technology and ongoing support services are also included.
Digital delivery is a key part of the agreement. Brightstar will implement Lotterywest’s online sales channel alongside the core system. Mobile and online products will sit alongside retail operations under the Lotterywest Brightstar contract.
The new lottery gaming system is expected to go live in Q3 2027. The play online channel is planned to follow shortly after implementation. These timelines form part of the long-term system transition.
Lotterywest said continuity of the platform is central to operations. “Continuity of Lotterywest’s lottery gaming system is critical in serving Lotterywest players and supporting Lotterywest’s network of more than 470 retailers,” said CEO Colin Smith. The system also supports returns to the WA (Western Australia) community through the grants program.
