Matchbook has completed the acquisition of betting exchange Betdaq. The Matchbook Betdaq acquisition brings together two peer-to-peer betting exchange businesses. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

  • Betdaq will continue operating for a short transition period. Trading on the existing Betdaq platform, operated by EPS Ltd, will remain available until October 21, 2026. Customer accounts will remain open for withdrawals until November 4.
  • The Matchbook Betdaq acquisition will combine liquidity from the two exchanges. Matchbook said the combined pool will support larger matched bets and tighter spreads. Betdaq was founded by Dermot Desmond in 2000 and has operated for more than 25 years.
  • Matchbook is a peer-to-peer betting exchange and betting technology business established in 2004. Its exchange lets customers bet against each other rather than against a traditional bookmaker. Matchbook is operated by Triplebet Limited and licensed by the UK Gambling Commission.
  • Matchbook has also expanded beyond its core exchange business. It partnered with easyGroup to launch easyBet in 2024 and later entered prediction markets through ADI PredictStreet. CEO Ronan McDonagh said: “Our first priority through this transition is Betdaq’s customers.”
  • Matchbook is inviting Betdaq customers to join its betting exchange. The company says the combined liquidity will improve horse racing markets and in-play betting. New customers can also access welcome offers, subject to terms and conditions (see exhibit below).
