Big changes at LeoVegas Group this week. After 14 years at the helm, Gustaf Hagman has stepped down. The company has appointed Mattias Wedar as the new LeoVegas CEO to lead the next phase of its global journey.

  • Mattias Wedar officially became LeoVegas Group CEO on 17 June 2025. He previously served as Chief Product and Technology Officer and was named Deputy CEO in April. His promotion follows years of internal leadership in product and tech.

  • Wedar brings experience from Mr Green and Evoke, and has been with LeoVegas since 2019. He’s expected to continue strengthening the group’s technology and product focus. LeoVegas says the leadership change aligns with its strategy to scale globally.

  • Gustaf Hagman co-founded LeoVegas in 2011 alongside Robin Ramm-Ericson. Under his leadership, LeoVegas became a major international operator in the igaming space. The company launched its proprietary platform, Rhino, and completed several acquisitions, including Push Gaming and Tipico U.S.’ sportsbook.

  • Hagman described the transition as the “right strategic moment” for new leadership. “Founding and leading LeoVegas Group has been one of the greatest adventures of my life,” he said in a farewell statement. He plans to step back from day-to-day operations but will continue to support “Team Leo.”

  • MGM Resorts International, which acquired LeoVegas Group in 2022, backed the leadership move. MGM Interactive president Gary Fritz praised Hagman’s work and expressed confidence in Wedar. He stated the group will keep pushing on growth, with BetMGM and LeoVegas both seen as core global brands.
