The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued cease-and-desist letters to 33 offshore gambling operators. The companies were found offering online casino games, sweepstakes-style games and sports betting without a state licence. The Michigan offshore gambling action follows earlier enforcement measures in 2026.
- The 33 operators include iWild Casino, mBit Casino, Raging Bull Slots, Regal Casino and Sportsbook, and Spin Dinero. The MGCB found that all targeted companies offered gambling services to Michigan residents without authorisation. The regulator requires operators to hold a state licence.
- The MGCB warned that unlicensed sites do not follow Michigan’s self-exclusion rules. Licensed operators must block players registered in the state’s online gambling self-exclusion database. MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said: “Offshore sites don’t respect it.”
- Michigan offshore gambling enforcement follows action against 45 operators announced in April 2026. Companies that ignore cease-and-desist letters may face further legal action. The MGCB works with Michigan’s Attorney General on enforcement matters.
- The regulator also referred to figures from the American Gaming Association (AGA). According to its 2025 study, Americans wager around USD 673.6 billion (ca. EUR 600 billion) annually with illegal and unregulated gambling operators. The AGA estimated that the illegal gambling market had grown 22% since 2022.
