The NBA has introduced new rules for prediction markets linked to its games. The NBA prediction markets framework includes partnerships with Kalshi, Polymarket and DraftKings. It also covers cooperation with US regulators.

  • Kalshi and Polymarket: The NBA named both companies its preferred prediction market exchanges. They can use NBA branding and official game data from Sportradar. Both also receive marketing rights in the US.
  • DraftKings agreement: The NBA expanded its DraftKings partnership to include prediction markets. DraftKings becomes an authorised prediction market operator under the NBA prediction markets framework. Similar agreements with other partners may follow.
  • Integrity rules: NBA and team personnel cannot trade NBA-related event contracts. Kalshi and Polymarket must follow restrictions on available markets. Both companies must also share information about suspicious trading and investigations.
  • Regulatory cooperation: The NBA signed an agreement with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The agreement covers information sharing and market oversight. “Protecting the integrity of the game is our top priority,” said NBA executive Scott Kaufman-Ross.
