Octoplay is preparing to enter Alberta after receiving conditional regulatory approval. The Octoplay Alberta license allows the company to supply its games when the province’s regulated iGaming market opens. The move expands Octoplay’s presence across North America.
- Octoplay has secured conditional license approval from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Commission (AGLC). The approval clears the way for the supplier to launch its game portfolio with licensed operators once the Alberta market opens. Alberta is expected to launch its regulated online gambling market in July 2026.
- Alberta is the latest step in the company’s North American expansion. Octoplay is already live in Ontario with BetMGM and PokerStars, while it also entered the U.S. through New Jersey before expanding to four tier-one operators in Michigan. The Octoplay Alberta license adds another regulated jurisdiction to its regional presence.
- CEO Ralitsa Georgieva said: “Alberta is one of the most strategic market openings on our 2026 roadmap.” She added that the company’s experience and performance data from Ontario, New Jersey and Michigan provide a solid base for partnerships with local operators. Octoplay aims to be among the first suppliers to launch in the province.
- Chief Legal Officer Martina Borg Stevens said the company worked closely with the AGLC during the licensing process. She stated that reaching the conditional approval stage reflects the strength of Octoplay’s compliance processes. The company said its licensing framework supports efficient entry into new regulated markets while meeting local technical requirements.
- The Octoplay Alberta license expands the supplier’s regulated footprint to 18 markets, including the UK, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Greece, Romania, Malta, Slovakia, Finland, Brazil, Georgia, Ontario, New Jersey and Michigan. The company plans to launch with local operators as soon as Alberta’s regulated market opens.
