Paf has agreed with Meta on a pilot project targeting unlicensed gambling in Switzerland. The Paf Meta pilot will share licensing information and URLs covering operators and affiliates. The project could later be expanded to other regulated markets.

  • Paf will provide Meta with licence documents and URLs to help distinguish licensed gambling businesses from unlicensed ones. The information will cover both operators and affiliates. Paf presented the project at the SBC Summit in Lisbon.
  • Switzerland will be the first market tested under the Paf Meta pilot. Paf says different licensing jurisdictions can make it difficult for social media platforms to verify gambling advertisers. “That is why we are focusing on Switzerland, to see whether we can build a model that can then be scaled up,” said Paf’s Jesper Eliasson.
  • Paf is itself a gambling operator, but it does not operate mycasino.ch in Switzerland. Grand Casino Luzern operates mycasino.ch, while Paf provides technology and gaming expertise to the online casino. According to Paf, mycasino.ch generates more than EUR 100m in annual revenue.
  • Paf also wants regulators to take further action against unlicensed operators and affiliates. It points to cease-and-desist letters, cross-border cooperation and the possibility of freezing assets.
