The Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) has introduced a voluntary advertising framework for its U.S. operator members. The ROGA marketing code covers age protections, advertising content, digital marketing and responsible gaming. All ROGA members have adopted the standards.

  • Marketing can only run on platforms where at least 75% of the expected audience is of legal gaming age or older. Advertising must not be designed to appeal to minors or appear on college campuses. The rules also prohibit endorsements involving underage collegiate athletes.
  • The ROGA marketing code requires operators to accurately present odds and potential outcomes and clearly disclose promotional conditions. Terms such as “risk-free” must not be used to describe gambling offers. Marketing also cannot present gaming as a financial strategy rather than entertainment.
  • Digital rules also cover influencers working with online gaming brands. Influencers must be of legal age and disclose paid relationships with operators. They must also follow the responsible gaming marketing guidelines established by ROGA members.
  • ROGA members must provide responsible gaming resources and allow customers to restrict or revoke their own access. Operators should also avoid targeting people identified as having responsible gaming concerns. The ROGA marketing code will form part of the association’s forthcoming independent Certification Program.
  • “By voluntarily aligning around a common, enforceable set of standards, ROGA member operators are demonstrating their commitment to responsible marketing,” said Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Shatley. ROGA is supported by major U.S. online gaming operators, with DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM commenting in support of the new framework.
