Svenska Spel revenue remained strong in Q4 2024, maintaining levels from the previous year. Meanwhile, sustainable gaming efforts continued to shape the company’s financial outlook:
- Net gaming revenue for the quarter totaled SEK 2,125 million (2,121 million in Q4 2023), on par with last year. Growth was driven by number games and lotteries, particularly Eurojackpot and Triss. Revenue from land-based casinos and slot machines faced challenges due to market conditions.
- Operating profit increased by 10% to SEK 535 million (485 million in Q4 2023), attributed to lower operating costs. The operating margin rose to 25% (23%), despite restructuring efforts and ongoing economic challenges in Sweden.
- Sport & Casino revenues remained stable compared to last year, supported by the 90th-anniversary celebration of Stryktipset and a new betting platform. The number of gambling customers increased, helping offset responsible gaming measures.
- Vegas business revenue declined by 24%, impacted by responsible gaming initiatives and the economic struggles of business partners. Casino Cosmopol revenue dropped by 66%, reflecting the closure of two casinos.
- Online gaming revenue grew by 12%, now contributing 59% of total revenue (52% in Q4 2023). The shift toward digital gaming platforms continues to drive operational strategy.
- Svenska Spel distributed SEK 95 million in lottery winnings, with the largest payout reaching SEK 22 million on Eurojackpot. Sports and casino games generated 25 million-sek prizes, including 17 wins on Stryktipset.
- The Gräsroten initiative allocated SEK 35 million to 8,725 clubs across 75 sports, reinforcing Svenska Spel’s commitment to youth sports and grassroots development. The company also extended its sponsorship agreement with the Swedish Ice Hockey Association until 2027.
- The board proposed a SEK 1.6 billion dividend for the 2025 Annual General Meeting, underscoring Svenska Spel’s commitment to returning profits to society.
