Veikkaus is preparing for leadership shifts at the start of 2026, centred around the long-serving Deputy CEO. The operator says the move reflects the ongoing transition of Finland’s gambling framework and internal restructuring. As part of the process, the Veikkaus executive changes realign responsibilities across the organisation.
Deputy CEO Velipekka Nummikoski will leave the Executive Team on 1 January 2026 and move into project duties in CEO Olli Sarekoski’s executive office. Veikkaus will not appoint a new Deputy CEO for now. Sarekoski thanked him for his work, noting his “extremely significant” role in preparing Finland’s new Gambling Act.
Public affairs will shift to Director Tuomo Puumala, who also oversees data, AI, customer service and corporate responsibility. Veikkaus said consolidating these areas supports operational continuity. The Veikkaus executive changes reflect ongoing adjustments ahead of the country’s system reform.
Nummikoski previously led RAY until its merger with Veikkaus and Fintoto in 2016 and has served as Deputy CEO since 2017. He said being part of the Executive Team allowed him to help shape Finland’s gambling system. “Now is a good moment to pass the baton on,” he said.
