Veikkaus has reported its half-year results for January to June 2025. Sales revenue fell 3.6% year-on-year to €466.4m, with profit slipping to €229.6m. A key trend was the rise of Veikkaus online gaming share within the business – see more details:
Veikkaus’ gross gaming revenue was €463.9m, of which 60.9% came from online channels, up 0.4 percentage points on last year. At the end of June, the operator had 2.63m registered customers, an increase of around 25,000.
Online casino and betting contributed €146.5m in GGR, slightly down from €152.1m last year. The drop reflected weaker betting margins and the absence of major summer football tournaments.
Lottery and land-based games generated €317.5m in GGR. Lottery revenue fell to €246.1m on lower Eurojackpot prize levels and fewer draws, while slots and table games brought €71.3m amid ongoing retail and machine reductions.
Veikkaus launched a new fixed-odds betting platform in May, while flagship sportsbook Pitkäveto received a system upgrade to broaden markets and improve customer experience.
The daily lottery game Milli, launched in June, has shifted more lottery play online and is already drawing interest from outside Finland.
Market share slipped to 48% of the €970m Finnish market, down two percentage points year-on-year. In the digital segment, Veikkaus held 36% versus offshore operators.
Veikkaus paid €55.3m in lottery tax during the period, €2.4m less than the prior year. Average headcount was 1,195, down from 1,249 in H1 2024.
